Days 198-200: The Ugly Stepchild of the Pacific Northwest

The Ugly Stepchild of the Pacific Northwest: East of the Cascades
Days 198 – 200
July 14 – 16
Mount Rainer to Glacier

Crossing the Cascade Mountain Range from west to east is like climbing to the top of a cool water ride only to realize that you’re going to get splashed once you get to the bottom.  We hurried across the high desert caught in the Washington rain shadow, arriving in scenic Idaho a day later.  And the next day, to Missoula, Montana, where Lynzee had her first Couchsurfing experience with our host of the same name (different spelling, however).  The next day, we arrived in Glacier National Park.

I didn't realize that Idaho looked like this.
Lynzee always makes for a wonderful model.
The engineer in me appreciates a well-executed wooden bridge.
