Passing through the Furnace: Death Valley
Days 179 – 180
June 25 – 26
Utah to Death Valley to Yosemite
When you are riding a black
motorcycle while wearing full protective gear, you should not ride through
Death Valley in late June. Trust me on
this one.
As we entered Death Valley, Jonathan was wondering why on earth I would stop to take a photo in this heat.
Obligatory photo at sea level just as we exited the furnace.
Been there, done that, never doing that again.
You should also not camp in
Death Valley in late June, as the rapidly cooling oven sitting below sea level
creates a vacuum that blows the winds well into the early morning. Sometimes I hate thermodynamics.
With a full moon that night, we tried some moonlight photography.
If you ever wondered what Mars might look like up close.
Even in the early morning, it was bright and hot in the sun.
Thank Buddha we made it out of there!!
