Days 176-178: Utah's Oases

Utah’s Oases
Days 176 – 178
June 22 – 24
Grand Staircase and Zion National Park

When you are riding a motorcycle that weighs 900 pounds (including two riders and all of their backpacking gear), you should listen to the signs that say “4x4 Recommended.”

We camped out the night before at the trail head.

We rode eight miles off-road to camp at the trailhead of Buckskin Gulch, a slot canyon in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.  In the morning, we forgot about how shitty the ride was.  The canyon itself cannot be described with words.

On the way out, we remembered the shitty ride.

After Buckskin Gulch, we went to the Zion Valley.
We took in the view from the valley's rim.
Zion, like the rest of the Grand Staircase, it multi-colored.
The final ridge line of Angel's Landing.
Jonathan having fun up at Angel's Landing.
We decided to be tourists and cool off in the water of the wet canyon.
