Oregon’s Dramatic Coastline
Days 190 – 192
July 6 – 8
Oregon Pacific Coast Highway
Oregon’s coast is
beautiful. And cold. And diverse.
And breathtaking. We often fell
behind schedule, caught by the Siren’s song of the crashing waves at scenic
vistas. From its endless span of coastal
forests to its 40-mile stretch of coastal sand dunes to its impossible rock
formations, Oregon held the crown jewels of the Pacific Coast Highway. It was here on our trip that we were most silent
together. Partially due to our beginning
to know each other, but mainly due to the landscape that literally left us
speechless.
 |
| Our first beach stop in Oregon. |
 |
| Low tide afforded us the chance to see sea life up close. |
 |
| Some trees are rebels. |
 |
| The famous sand dunes on Oregon's coastline. |
 |
| Untouched beaches like this were abundant. |
We watched a late 4th
of July fireworks celebration on the beach at Cape Kiwanda, a local display
from the beach campers who parked their trucks on the sand just above the
tideline.
 |
| The evening of our arrival at Cape Kiwanda. |
 |
| View from the top of the cape's hills. |
 |
| Lynzee struck a pose while I was going for a candid shot. This happens a lot. |
 |
| Saying goodbye to Cape Kiwanda the next morning. |
 |
| Baby deer have no fear. |
 |
| Mussels at low tide. |
 |
| Our last beach in Oregon. |
