Last Stand in Jackson Hole
Days 214 – 216
July 30 – August 1
Grand Teton National Park
Jackson Hole is home to a
whole range of spectacular granite mountains: Mount Owen, Teewinot, Mount
Moran, Mount Wister, Buck Mountain, Static Peak, and the Tetons: South, Middle,
and Grand. All of them rose from the
same fault in the crust that plunged the land east of the Teton Range thousands
of feet below, creating a glacial-lake-filled valley known as Jackson
Hole. This was our last stop before
booking it to Sturgis.
Clear waters and snow-capped mountains; I'm in Heaven.
Moose in action! We finally saw Moose after all these parks!
The best model I could ask for in such a beautiful place.
As much as I wanted to summit
one of the peaks, impending thunderstorms kept me from committing to the
climb. I’ve never been above the tree
line on a granite mountain in the middle of a thunderstorm, and I intend to
keep it this way. Even rare opportunities
like this are not worth the risk involved.

So we had a leisurely day instead.
On the plus side, it gave us
another day to explore the park together.
Just about anywhere in Jackson Hole offers serene views of the Teton Range
backdrop. Besides, there is no
substitute for quality time with a good adventure partner.
I'd ride anywhere with this girl.
